Following the 18 June 2007 visit of a delegation from Beijing Municipality , ECMI has been chosen for organizing intensive 2-week training for a delegation of 25 high officials from Beijing Municipality in the domain of security.

Prof. Urio has been invited to visit the CELAP (China Executive Leadership Academy Pudong), which is one of the 4 newest Party schools established by the Standing Committee of the Chinese Politbureau.
Prof. Urio had meetings with Dr Jiang Haishan, Director-General of the Department of International Exchange & Programme Development, Dr. Harry Genfa Liu (director, Associate Professor), Xuezhu Bai (Deputy Director, Chief coordinator of International Courses), Sean Wu, Jasper Jiang, and Amos Ding.

Prof. Urio spent most of its time at the School of Public Policy and Management of Tsinghua University working on the research " CREATING A NEW DYNAMIC FOR PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS FOR PEACEFUL AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT: Human Security and Equitable Access to Resources in Countries at the Pre-PPP Stage”.
This research covers China , Russia , Poland and Ukraine . The cooperation with Tsinghua University has been sponsored by Prof. Hu Angang, Director of the China Research Center , and is conducted by Prof. Yang Yongheng with the help of Mr Zhang Wankuan (PhD candidate).
During his stay in Beijing Prof. Urio
- was invited to give a conference on the research on Public-Private Partnerships to the Master and PhD students of the School of Public Policy and Management, Tsinghua University

has also been invited by Prof. Li Xiguang, Dean of the Tsinghua School of Journalism and Communication, to give a conference on “New Public Management” to the Global Leaders Forum. had several contacts with colleagues at Renmin University (especially with Dong Keyong, Dean, Li Shaoguang, Qin Huimin, Wang Hufeng, and Wang Dan, for the purpose of further developing the cooperation between the Renmin School of Public Administration and ECMI foundation. Prof. Urio was invited to give a conference on “New Public Management” to the Master and PhD students of the School

- was introduced by Prof. Li Shaoguang, Director of the Renmin Department of Social Security, to Dr. Xiong Xianjun, Vice-President and Secretary General of the “China Health Research Association”, a NGO linked to the Ministry of Labour and Social Security;
- had several meetings with representatives of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Beijing Municipality for the purpose of deciding about the last arrangements for a training programme to be held in Geneva in November 2007. For more details see “12-21 November 2007: Beijing Training Programme”;
- visited again the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) where he had a meeting with Dr. Chen Dongqi, Vice President, Professor, Academy of Macroeconomic Research , and Prof. Zuo Chuan Chang

During these meetings various possibilities of further developing the cooperation between ECMI and Chinese institutions have been discussed.
Prof. Urio was also invited by Swiss Ambassador Dante Martinelli to the Swiss Embassy; he informed the Ambassador of the ongoing and planned activities of the ECMI foundation.

Prof. Paolo Urio has been invited by the Faculty of Economics of the University of Rome at TOR Vergata from June 20 to July 2. He has delivered 3 conferences to an audience of Master and PhD students on the following topics: (1) Understanding Public Policies in China ; (2) The New Public Management: between theory and practice; (3) Public-Private Partnerships for in-transition Countries.
